Stretching Myself

It is always necessary to watch out for impending staleness in the writing. Recently I have been trying some new forms to keep me sharp and add some tools to my kit. I hope you will enjoy these explorations.


kiss me

warmly caress

soft breath upon my nape

show me the depth of your caring

slow dance


pre spring

crocus in snow

fresh smell of melting ice

too early for buds or greening—



small steps

wee prancing feet

anticipate then pounce

frolic interspersed with naptime

sweet youth

This form of poetry is cinquan. It consists of five lines and is syllable count. Lines lengths are 2,4,6,8,2.
